Recommending Fr[iedrich] Grützmacher, reporting that Strauss is working hard on Wagner and Liszt--of the latter he has given the Faustsymphonie and Bergsymphonie, of Wagner Tannhäuser and Lohengrin complete, Rienzi in a slightly abridged, completely new version--, that Nibelungen and Tristan will be done the next year, asking Mahler to send him any of his large orchestral works if they are published, that they will do Mihalovich's Nixe [i.e., A sellő (The Naiad)] next in Weimar, saying that he threw out [Scheerbart's] Kometentanz and began his own three-act ballet, asking for a copy of Mahler's Symphony no. 3 if it is published, mentioning the possibility of his conducting a performance of the Third or Fourth Symphony or Das klagende Lied, asking if the First Symphony has been performed in Berlin or the Third anywhere, mentioning Strauss's Feuersnot, [Theodor] Bertram, Thuille, Gutheil-Schoder, Markus, Brecher, Mikorey, etc.
